The Lisbon Blockchain Winter School successfully concluded after an intensive and insightful week at Instituto Superior Técnico, bringing together up to 50 participants per day, including Ph.D. students, faculty members, researchers, and industry professionals from 17 different nationalities. With an impressive lineup of 20 speakers from prestigious universities, research centers, and companies, the Winter School provided a deep dive into blockchain fundamentals, smart contracts, security, Web3, decentralized finance (DeFi), and interoperability.

Attendees from 22 institutions, including Politecnico di Torino, Technical University of Munich, University of Manchester, and Polytechnic Institute of Paris, engaged with renowned experts from institutions such as the University of Bern, Carnegie Mellon University, IMDEA Networks, Anchorage Digital, Void, Universidade Católica, Instituto Superior Técnico, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, SenseFinity, Unlockit, University of Cagliari, Royal Holloway, and INESC-ID. The program combined theoretical knowledge with practical experience, offering hands-on labs on decentralized applications, Hyperledger Fabric, smart contract security, and Bitcoin transactions, ensuring participants gained both conceptual insights and technical expertise.

The Industry Panel, featuring Unlockit, Anchorage, SenseFinity, and Void, showcased real-world blockchain applications and reinforced the crucial link between research and industry. Additionally, the Ph.D. Poster Session and the Social Dinner at MAAT Café & Kitchen provided unique networking opportunities for students, researchers, and industry leaders.
